Creating The Future

WoolawayWx has been heavily focused on social media platforms over the last 10 years that the page has been operational, and often lacking to add features that users would want to our website. While I have gave the website a few facelifts here and there, many features that we want to add continue to be missing, and the site tends to become outdated, and neglected in terms of content quite often.

Starting the week of April 19th, 2026, I will be working on updating the website. While the changes won't be noticed right off the bat, they will be more than noticeable once I build out the final version. This upgrade is something that I have been wanting to do, but have not committed myself the time to be able to do it. There is a solid chance that 60-80% of the website will be changed in some manner.

Some of features that I are planning:

• Enhanced Blogging Features

  • Some of this has already been added as you are reading this post. The website will feature a new way that post are created and stored, which will make creating post much easier, and should lead to more posts!

• Better Navigation/Header

  • A good navigation is the base for a good website, and that is something that the website has struggled with. This update should really improve the look of the header, and most importantly, the usability of the header. This will also mean adding pages that have been in coming soon, or removing them, getting rid of dead links in the navigation bar.

• More weather!

  • For a weather based website, it really lacks the actually weather. With this update, the website is expected to add in a slip on the homepage that will attempt to get the users location to display current conditions. If the user does not allow access to current location, then it will default to rotating though a few predefined locations.

  • The website will also have a banner that is added to the website to communicate medium to high risk impacts across the WoolawayWx coverage area so the minute that a user visits woolawaywx.com, they can be be in the know by the banner.

  • An update to the forecast system is also on the way! As WoolawayWx will be looking for partnerships during this time, the forecast system will be updated to get more screen time, and will also attempt to use the users location to display the nearest 5 day forecast (yes, 5 day, we will be upgrading from our current 4 day forecast!), if not allowed, it will rotate between sponsored locations.

  • Our WAWS system is not going anywhere either. Current plans are in progress to add more graphics to the WoolawayWx Automated Weather System, including the well known WoolawayWx Hay Weather Index, and the new WoolawayWx Spraying Index just to name a few changes and additions. During this update, we will also be cleaning up a few of the broken products as well that are not reliable, or have broke over the last few months. All of these products will continue to be all made in house, on our own servers, free of charge!

I am sure that there are other things that will be changed, but that summary represents most of the larger changes that will be put in place! Once the update is done, a post will be made on the Facebook page, inviting users like you to come and check out the new website!
